Located in the western part of the State
of New York, Buffalo is the second largest city in the state. It is
part of the Niagara Falls metropolitan area. The completion of the
Erie Canal in 1825 led to the city's increase in population and its
growth in the state. Buffalo has one of the snowiest winters of any
city in the country. It is becoming known for its human genome and
bioinformatics research, and is the headquarters to M&T Bank. The
city is the home to two professional sports franchises, the NFL's
Bills who play at Ralph Wilson Stadium who play in Orchard Park and
the NHL's Buffalo Sabres who play at the HSBC Arena in downtown
Buffalo. Orchard Park is located directly south of Buffalo. On
