ATLANTA
INFORMATION |
 |
In the undulating hills of north
Georgia, between the mountains and the sea you'll find Atlanta,
another American success story born out of the railroad expansion in
the 1800s. It's a vast and thriving city, the economic and cultural
hub of the southern United States. Home to a certain elixir that
goes by the name of Coca-Cola and to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,
more recently, Atlanta played host to the '96 Olympic Games. True it
is a bit of a sprawl with lots of shopping malls but visit the
quirkier districts and old towns when they're filled with pear
blossom and color in spring and autumn and you'll love it. Five
Points and Buckhead are the liveliest areas at night with lots of
bars, restaurants and clubs. For culture head to Sweet Auburn.
