The University of Texas is located in
Austin, TX. The city is the capital of Texas and one of the fastest
growing cities in the country. Named one of America's Best Sports
Colleges in 2002, the University of Texas has a student body of over
50,000. Established in 1883, it is the largest college in the State
of Texas. The main 350 acre campus is adjacent to downtown Austin.
Burnt orange and white are the official school colors and the
university is nicknamed the Texas Longhorns. Texas is a Division 1
school and competes in the Big 12 Conference. The most successful
sports team at Texas is the football team who plays at Royal
Memorial Stadium.
