PORTLAND
INFORMATION |
 |
Located in the Pacific Northwest,
Portland is one of the most progressive cities in the country for
land use and conservation issues. Portland is the largest city in
the State of Oregon and is nicknamed "the city of roses" because its
climate is good for growing roses. It was established in 1851 and
named after Portland, Maine. Not only is the city known for its
roses, but is known for its public transit, land use planning and
microbreweries. The Portland Trailblazers (NBA) are the city's only
professional sports franchise. They play at the Rose Garden Arena.
